One in seven women in the UK will develop breast cancer in their lifetime.
After a breast cancer diagnosis many face a long and challenging battle. From initial treatments and surgeries, to chemotherapy, radiation, reconstruction and complications during healing to name a few.
This all takes its toll on both a persons body and mind.
At the end of that persons treatment they are left mentally and physically scarred. Now wanting to move on with their lives they seek the final part of recovery..... a nipple!
Usually, nipple tattoos are offered as part of their treatment at hospital, or they are recommended to cosmetic artists. Sadly what a lot of people do not realise is that medical and cosmetic tattoos are only SEMI-PERMANENT. They usually fade within a few months to a year, leaving only traces of what used to be an areola and nipple, as such they require regular ”top ups”. Repeated “top ups” not only cause more trauma to already fragile skin, it can also lead to lasting damage, additional scar tissue, higher risk of infection and slower healing. It can also create so much damage that the skin may no longer hold the pigment.
PERMANENT areola tattooing has a huge number of benefits. From minimal trauma with no “top ups” needed. Once your tattoos are done you are able to live your life and never have to worry about fading, visiting a clinic or studio every 6-12 months. Lower risks of infection and scar tissue, as the skin is not being repeatedly broken.
There is also a massive mental health benefit to having a permanent areola tattoo. As you do not have to worry about constant fading and the reminder that your body is not “complete”. It also helps to mark an end to that traumatic part of your life’s journey, instead of being reminded about all of the stress and upset you and your body has been through to survive.
I strongly believe that EVERY survivor of breast cancer deserves the absolute best. I believe that no one should have to settle for substandard work. No one should have to worry about if their nipples will fade after every treatment, or constantly watch and plan for their next treatment.
I truly believe every woman deserves to look in the mirror and see what they want to see, to feel complete and “normal” again. It is my mission in life to help as many people to achieve that goal as possible. To empower, Invoking Confidence and self-worth, to restore dignity when many feel it has been stripped from them.
So you are ready for a nipple tattoo, what next?
If you feel you are ready for an areola and nipple tattoo that will last a life time, the first thing you need to do is get in touch and book a FREE consultation.
Consultations last for around 30-45 minutes. At your consultation we will discuss your past surgeries, treatments you have had (such as chemotherapy and radiation treatments). We will also discuss your expectations and I will be able to answer and questions or concerns which you may have. After you feel a little more relaxed I will examine your scars, any existing areola tattooing and also your tissue to ensure that everything is suitable for the next stage.
If you decide that you would like to go ahead with the procedure, we can book you an appointment. Sometimes I do offer treatment on the same day as the consultation. This is usually when a client has travelled long distances for the appointment. If you are travelling from outside of Lincolnshire and Yorkshire please let me know so I can allocate a larger time slot to your appointment.
On the day of your treatment we will go through to the treatment room and discuss colours, placement and also size. Everything used will be set up in front of you, so you know that all needles etc are brand new and sterilised. Once everything is set up and ready it is time to start creating your new nipple.
Before you leave you will be given both verbal and written aftercare instructions for your new nipple. it is very important that the aftercare is followed.
Areola and nipple tattooing usually requires 2 sittings, the first is to build the shape, size and colour of your areola. The second is to add all of the finer details to make it look 3D and as realistic as possible.
After your second sitting you can move on and enjoy your new body. There will never be a need for ”touch ups” and it will never fade.
